How you know you need it
The sealant has gone black, grey or mouldy at the edges, is lifting away from the wall, or water is finding its way behind the bath.
Why people put it off
It looks cosmetic, so it gets scrubbed rather than replaced — and scrubbing mouldy silicone never works, because the mould is inside it.
What is involved
Cutting the old bead out completely, cleaning and drying the joint, then a new bead. It needs to dry before the bath is used again.
